人物简介

Judith Kroll

朱迪思·克罗尔是美国加利福尼亚大学尔湾分校语言科学系的一名杰出教授。她本科毕业于纽约大学，研究生毕业于布兰迪斯大学。在1994年入职宾夕法尼亚大学前，朱迪思·克罗尔曾任教于斯沃斯莫尔学院、罗格斯大学、蒙特霍里约克学院。她于2016年将个人实验室搬迁至至加利福尼亚大学河滨分校，又在2019年将实验室迁至加利福尼亚大学尔湾分校。

朱迪思·克罗尔和她的学生主要研究双语者怎样调控大脑里同时存在的两种语言。他们的研究表明双语作为一种独特的手段，可以帮助探究单语者研究中尚不明晰的语言和认知之间的互动。相关研究获得了自然科学基金（NSF）和美国国立卫生研究院（NIH）的资助。

Judith Kroll is a Distinguished Professor in the Department of Language Science at the University of California, Irvine. She completed her undergraduate degree at New York University and graduate degrees at Brandeis University. She held faculty positions at Swarthmore College, Rutgers University, and Mount Holyoke College before joining the Penn State faculty in 1994, and moved her lab to UCR in 2016, and recently to UCI in 2019.

The research that she and her students conduct concerns the way that bilinguals juggle the presence of two languages in one mind and brain. Their work, supported by grants from NSF and NIH, shows that bilingualism provides a tool for revealing the interplay between language and cognition that is otherwise obscure in speakers of one language alone.
