[Cover Story] 

A multitalented agent BPB merging two β-sheet targeting groups into one molecule was designed to detect and inhibit the Aβ aggregation. BPB is able to quantitatively detect the β-sheet level in soluble Aβ oligomers, specifically distinguish Aβ40 and Aβ42 aggregates, and expediently identify the blood of AD model and normal mice through unique luminescence spectrum. Moreover, it can penetrate the blood-brain barrier and precisely stain Aβ plaques in the brain; further, it can inhibit ROS production, protect neurons, and disaggregate the Aβ aggregates in the brain of AD model mice induced by metal ions or self-assembly. Therefore, BPB has the potential for early diagnosis and treatment of AD (see the article by Xiang Ma, Yanqing Wang, Jiai Hua, Congyu Xu, Tao Yang, Jian Yuan, Guiquan Chen, Zijian Guo & Xiaoyong Wang on the pages 73‒82).
